Easy Afternoon from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. What a nice day we had yesterday. For whatever reason, it felt less hurried than usual. I finished one project, and I'm on the cusp of finishing another. Possibly the lack of projects half finished made it seem less busy.

Of course, I have lots of projects half finished, but I take them in stages. When I'm talking about "projects," I'm meaning whatever stage it happens to be in currently. Take the Barnyard quilt as an example. I made the blocks one per month. When they were all finished, it went to the ...

Bit by Bit, Block by Block from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our weather is still dry. Happily, Mike finished his caulking job yesterday, and so we're safe there. Nevertheless, we had another red-sky morning. It was hazy yesterday. At least today we can see the mountains.

Everything took longer than anticipated yesterday. I wasn't able to make my drive into town until after lunch. The trip into town was quick enough, but it made for a late start to my sewing day. I was able to finish one more block. This is the one with blue running diagonally. It's a little harder to see ...

Bubbles & Blooms Quilt from Modern Sunbonnet Sue

Another finish. I finished a quilt last summer which I started about 15 years ago. This UFO was from a guild brown bag block challenge. I selected fabrics for the challenge and placed them in a brown paper bag. Each month, our group exchanged bags, rotating through each member. While I stitched blocks for other […]

A Little Bit of Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's another Monday. Happily, it'll be a mostly-sewing day for me. I took the weekend off from doing any workouts, but I'll need to get back to that today. Aside from that, it will be NBS for me.

As expected, I didn't get much sewing done yesterday, but I finished my "Circus" piece. It now has a space on the wall of my sewing room. Here's a peek for you.

Yeah...sorry. You'll have to wait until the reveal on May 1st. I can show you the back, though.

That ...

Fresh Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a good day of sewing yesterday. I was able to finish off the Circus piece. It just needs the binding hand-sewn now. Today's sewing will probably be mostly hand-sewing, although I'm going to make good on my threat to sew the Kittens blocks into a finished quilt top.

There still is no plan for these. I've been mulling it over, and I have a couple of ideas. We'll all just have to wait and see what my hands do with them. It's unlikely that I can finish it today ...

Sowing Optimism from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Yes, I said "sowing," not "sewing." Even though it's Sewturday, I'm going to say something about sowing. We had a busy day yesterday. It started out slow enough when I started with the March block for A Year in the Garden. As usual, I was simply using up the partially used bits of floss from the last time I worked on this project.

While I was working on that, I figured I'd get a start on the biscotti I was wanting to bake. Slow-stitching is a good way to kill time while waiting ...

OMG: A Finished Quilt! from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We have a couple of nice weather days going on right now. The temperatures have warmed considerably, which is very much appreciated. It was a good day for sewing with bright sunshine streaming in through the windows. I started my sewing day taking the first stitches on the third of three blocks for "S" is for Sew. (There are nine blocks in all, but I'm only doing the first three for now.)

From there, I was itching to finish off the Vintage Linen quilt binding. And there it is...a finished quilt.

Same Old Same Old from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Happily, it's a stay-at-home day for me. I've had to go out the last two days in a row. Oh, the humanity! We'll have to make a short trip into town tomorrow, but it will be fast. Today, though...nothing. I have some things to do at home that will simply be obstacles to my sewing, but there should be plenty of time for progress today.

It was lunch time when I got home yesterday. I had a light lunch, and then a good nap. There was no time for slow-stitching before I ...

Fifteen Minutes from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing super fast this morning. I have just 15 minutes before I need to jump in the shower and get ready to head out for my monthly pedicure. Honestly, I wish I was staying home. I seriously considered canceling yesterday, but then decided to go ahead with it. So, here we go. No fluff. I hate to write and run, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

There was time for some slow-stitching before we headed out for the grocery store yesterday. I finished the first of three blocks I'm working on ...

Monday's Moves from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How's everyone doing? Things are pretty slow around here. We're doing our grocery shopping today, and I'm getting a pedicure tomorrow. The energy level is going to need to pick up some. I was all set to take a walk on the treadmill yesterday, but I was discouraged when the TV wouldn't play my latest Ken Burns documentary...The West. And, obviously, I can't walk on the treadmill if I can't watch television at the same time, so what's a person to do? Well, I vacuumed and dusted. I ...

Long List from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and Happy President's Day! We're celebrating the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln today. Here, in America, these used to be separate holidays. A while back, some genius got the idea to combine the two into a single national holiday, providing Americans with another three-day weekend. If that includes you, then enjoy your day off.

There was more on yesterday's to-do list than I remembered when I wrote yesterday's post. For one thing, I'd forgotten I needed to bake another pre-breakfast snack. Mike was given an opportunity to choose my ...
