Lunch in Boulder City from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a slow day yesterday. Our only plan was to go have lunch in Boulder City, and then get some fudge to enjoy with our afternoon cup of espresso. Before leaving, I spent some time on my embroidery, filling my hoop.

While I worked on that, the kitties shared some of their wheat grass.

We waited for the noon crowd to clear out, and then headed over to the Boulder Dam Brewing Co. We try to have at least one meal here each time we're in Boulder City. I inadvertantly caught a selfie when ...

"Motion" Reveal: After the Storm from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Today I can reveal my “Motion” quilt for The Endeavourers art quilt group, but before I do, lets catch up on what happened yesterday, shall we? And let me just tell you, we made good on our goal to do nothing for the entire day. It's good to attain one's goals, wouldn't you agree?

I spent some time on my slow-stitching, finishing off the right side of the turtle.

Now, I've moved my hoop down. The bottom triangle is the turtle's tail, and so I'll be moving up the left ...

Egrets...I've Had a Few from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our time here in Escondido is nearly at an end. We'll be here today and tomorrow, but then we'll move along to Boulder City, Nevada. We're still enjoying our time here, and we have yet to see everything on our list of things to do. Anything we don't do this trip will go on the list for next year.

My yesterday started with my slow-stitching. I've filled the hoop on this section now.

I decided to try the longer and larger Sashiko needle included with my kit. In the image below ...

Whimsical Quilting from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy sewing day yesterday. I managed to finish off my "Motion" challenge, and then I had time to quilt the first row of the Whimsical Garden quilt.

My sewing started with embroidery, as always. But then I moved to hand-stitching the binding for the "Motion" project. It was a small quilt, but I'm sure it was easier to stitch with the help of my trusty stitching cat.

Smitty rested nearby in case his help was needed. Shift work, you know.

In short order, my quilt was finished. Here's your final peek ...

Fast Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our weatherman has been right about the forecast. We had a couple of reasonably nice days Tuesday and Wednesday, but the rain has returned today. We're expecting a wet weekend. That's Oregon for you. If there's anything you can count on here, it's rain in winter.

We were late getting off to the grocery store yesterday. That meant I didn't get into the sewing room until nearly 3:00 p.m. Despite my late start, I was able to get my challenge quilt to binding stage. As I mentioned yesterday, I ...

A Good Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a busy day yesterday. All the items on my to-do list were checked off. I've been working at procrastinating less. You might say I'm procrastinating on my procrastination. It feels good to have everything finished at the end of the day, but it cuts into my sewing time. Nevertheless, I started my "Motion" project yesterday, and I was able to get farther along than expected. I was so involved in the process that I neglected to take any pictures until the end of the day. Here's your peek:

Oooh! Colorful! Any ...

On the Border from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a mostly sunny day yesterday. Like us, the kitties were suffering from cabin fever after so many days of heavy rain. They were champing at the bit to get outside.

Inside, I finished off the 2nd block of Home is Where My Flock Is. These are fun to stitch.

Here are the two blocks I have for this quilt so far.

After that, I took a walk on the treadmill, and then got to work on my quilting. The straight-line diagonal grid is finished now. All that remains is to quilt the two borders ...

Easy Afternoon from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. What a nice day we had yesterday. For whatever reason, it felt less hurried than usual. I finished one project, and I'm on the cusp of finishing another. Possibly the lack of projects half finished made it seem less busy.

Of course, I have lots of projects half finished, but I take them in stages. When I'm talking about "projects," I'm meaning whatever stage it happens to be in currently. Take the Barnyard quilt as an example. I made the blocks one per month. When they were all finished, it went to the ...

Bit by Bit, Block by Block from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Our weather is still dry. Happily, Mike finished his caulking job yesterday, and so we're safe there. Nevertheless, we had another red-sky morning. It was hazy yesterday. At least today we can see the mountains.

Everything took longer than anticipated yesterday. I wasn't able to make my drive into town until after lunch. The trip into town was quick enough, but it made for a late start to my sewing day. I was able to finish one more block. This is the one with blue running diagonally. It's a little harder to see ...

Bubbles & Blooms Quilt from Modern Sunbonnet Sue

Another finish. I finished a quilt last summer which I started about 15 years ago. This UFO was from a guild brown bag block challenge. I selected fabrics for the challenge and placed them in a brown paper bag. Each month, our group exchanged bags, rotating through each member. While I stitched blocks for other […]

A Little Bit of Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's another Monday. Happily, it'll be a mostly-sewing day for me. I took the weekend off from doing any workouts, but I'll need to get back to that today. Aside from that, it will be NBS for me.

As expected, I didn't get much sewing done yesterday, but I finished my "Circus" piece. It now has a space on the wall of my sewing room. Here's a peek for you.

Yeah...sorry. You'll have to wait until the reveal on May 1st. I can show you the back, though.

That ...
